PGMOL : Ventureaxis client for software development

A long-term engagement to process match data feeds from multiple suppliers into a REST Web Service, augmenting standard event information with match official specific KPI data.

Data Analysis and Distribution

The PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) was formed in 2001 when English football referees turned professional, in order to provide officials for games played in the Premier League, English Football League and Football Association competitions.

As part of its programme of continuous improvement and professional development, the PGMOL engaged Ventureaxis to create a system that could process and synchronise data feeds from ChyronHego TRACAB and Opta to generate key statistics relating to the position of match officials when certain events (Red / Yellow Cards, Free Kicks, Offside, etc) occurred.

In addition, bespoke foul and offside analysis was used to help the process of identifying the quality of judgements made.

These new statistics were passed onto PGMOL to be synchronised with match video footage for review with the match officials involved in the games

The system needed to accept large volume data feeds (position of players / officials / ball 25 times per second) and process them, making the data available for the PGMOL to consume using a secure REST Web Service. The system was hosted on the Amazon Cloud and monitored on match days to ensure delivery targets were met
